Post-Civil War industrialization in America is just that: Post Civil War. The North has just razed the South to the ground, and there is a rebuilding effort to get the South back on its feet and for it to become a productive unit in America's growing economy. With this we open up to industrialization. This term describes a broad change from small unique production of goods to more mass produced far-from-unique methods. This change had both foreseen and unforeseen outcomes. These outcomes included a movement in society towards a more urban life, less custom way of life, the standardization of consumer goods, and opportunity for innovation in broad aspects. Today we see the effects of industrialization in our more global and diverse economies. In this website we will describe for you the "movers & shakers" of this process and what they accomplished. Then we will describe for you the opposition's point of view for this change including the problems seen today that were the same as one hundred years ago. Inside the effort to maintain and advance the industrialization of America we also have vast corruption in business management, politics, and workers unions; but we will not discuss those topics with you at this time due to their enormity. Brought to you by Amy Rolland and Daniel Kizziah. |
